Northern Kenya

The north of Kenya is East Africa's best kept secret, with some truly spectacular landscapes in this remote and rugged part of Kenya, abundant wildlife with both rare and fascinating species, exhilarating game activities including horse back safaris and camel back safaris, and some of our favourite lodges in one of the most beautiful settings in Africa.

In northern Kenya you will discover Meru National Park, for many years Kenya's best kept secret, the untamed wilderness is best explored from its hidden jewel - Elsa's Kopje, made famous by the film 'Born Free' and George Adamson's lions. In Meru visitors will see a more diverse range of species than in any other Park or Reserve. Regular sightings include Beisa Oryx, Gerenuk, Elephant, Grevy's Zebra, Reticulated Giraffe, Lesser Kudu, Grant's Gazelle, Leopard, Lion, Cheetah, Rhino and the rare, elusive Greater Kudu. Meru is famous for its bird life, including riverine and forest species as well as the arid dry country species.

Laikipia, remote and beautiful. An alluring haven on the edge of the Northern Frontier District, forget all about mechanised transport and take walking assisted camel safaris or horseback safaris for one or several days. Trekking with the Laikipiak Maasai, your professional guide will organise fly camping and walking amongst big game and shaded rest in the cool of the riverine forests. Here roam Elephant, Lion, Wild Dogs and Leopard alongside the endemic northern species that thrive there - Gerenuk, Grevy's Zebra and Reticulated Giraffe. Northern Kenya is also home to Samburu, Lewa and Shaba, each with their own distinct character and feel, but sharing beautiful landscapes and abundant wildife.
