Uganda - What to take
To ensure you enjoy your safari to Uganda, we have compiled a small list of essential items that we recommend you take with you.
-
Binoculars
-
Comfortable casual clothes, preferably made of cotton or natural fabrics - long sleeve shirts, long skirt or trousers to protect against the sun and mosquitoes - brightly coloured clothes are not recommended because they can attract insects
-
A water proof jacket, you will be spending time in the rainforest where showers are common.
-
Warm coat, jumper or wind cheater because it can become cool in the evenings.
-
A sun hat, good sun glasses and a high factor sun block
-
Swimming costume
-
Sensible tough comfortable hiking boots, preferably with good grip and waterproofing
-
If you are going to track the mountain gorillas you might like to consider taking a pair of gardening gloves (not rubber) to help protect your hands from thorns, nettles and brambles in the rainforest, and some gators to protect your legs.
-
Soft canvas bags, rather than suitcases
-
Good insect repellent
-
A camera and plenty of film/memory cards and batteries (we usually recommend you consider how many films/memory you think you'll need and then double it!) because they will not always be availaible at remote lodges and camps, and it is very frustrating to run out of film just as a family of gorillas comes into view!
