Namibia - What to take
To ensure you enjoy your safari / self drive to Namibia, we have compiled a small list of essential items that we recommend you take with you.
-
Binoculars
-
Comfortable casual clothes, preferably made of cotton or natural fabrics - long sleeve shirts, long skirt or trousers to protect against the sun and mosquitoes, brightly coloured clothes are not recommended because they can attract insects
-
Warm coat, jumper or wind cheater because it can get very cold at night in the desert
-
A sun hat, good sun glasses and a high factor sun block
-
Swimming costume
-
Sensible tough comfortable walking shoes
-
Soft canvas bags, rather than suitcases - particularly if you are doing a fly-in safari
-
Good insect repellent
-
A camera and plenty of film/memory cards and batteries (we usually recommend you consider how many films/memory you think you need and then double it!) because they will not always be available at remote lodges and camps, and it is very frustrating to run out of film just as a lion comes into view or during a spectacular sunset over the desert.
-
If you ar going on an adventure camping safari, you will need a sleeping bag and towels
-
If you are going on a self drive safari to Namibia we recommend you take a collapsible cool box. They can be very useful for keeping drinks and snacks cool on your journey - ideal if you want to stop for a picnic in a place of interest. Namibia Essential Information - printer friendly version
