Whilst on your self drive in Namibia, you will be driving on both tar and gravel roads, you will not be driving on any sand roads or off road. As in the UK, in Namibia you drive on the left, all passengers must wear seatbelts and you will require a valid driving license, which must be kept with you. Petrol stations are located only at key points in Namibia and in the larger towns and cities, it is advisable to try and keep your tank full particularly when crossing desert or remote areas. A collapsible cold box can be very useful in Namibia as it can be used to maintain a store of water, cold drinks and light refreshments, permitting you to take picnics when you choose to stop in places of interest. Unleaded petrol costs considerably less than in the UK.
